Hi there! My name is Geneva Sovinec. I am a rising senior at Pepperdine University, where I major in English with an emphasis on writing and rhetoric. Upon accepting my offer to Pepperdine, I was presented with the George Pepperdine Academic Achievement Scholarship due to my grades and GPA in high school. This was primarily due to my academics but also my experience outside of the classroom. I had the opportunity to volunteer much of my time to my church back home, leading worship for multiple services and guiding children through Sunday school. After school, I dedicated most of my time to ballet, finding a perfect work-life balance. Furthermore, I had the opportunity to study abroad in Tokyo, Japan during my junior year of high school, attending a small all-girls International school.

During my time at this University, I have accumulated an abundance of work experience, such as working in a Psychiatry Office as a Clinic Assistant, becoming a Pepperdine Writing Tutor, working with Pepperdine's Campus Recreation, and getting a writing internship with a PR agency and magazine in Beverly Hills. Pepperdine is a very close-knit community, especially within your desired major. Considering it is a smaller school, the professor-to-student ratio allows you to create bonds with your peers and your professors. While in the English department, I have gained an abundance of connections, both personal and professional. I
