Volunteer Experience:
• Engaging with communities nationally to encourage conversations about public health and to foster interest in careers in public health
• Conducting social media campaigns and takeovers, book clubs, and virtual fairs to engage with people and discuss public health topics and application processes
• Collaborating with School of Public Health admissions as a part of the Virtual Campaign Initiative
• Connecting with prospective students to represent and answer inquiries about University of Michigan’s School of Public Health
Clinical Experience:
• Employing motivational interviewing techniques with focus on helping students achieve their goals and change necessary behaviors
• Demonstrating the ability to comply with HIPAA regulations and handle connecting clients with the valuable resources and trained professionals when necessary
• Participated in 20+ hours of training for alcohol and drug misuse, sexual misconduct, eating and body image disorders, sleep, and general wellness topics
• Collaborating with LDC core members to provide emotional, physical, and informational support for those undergoing miscarriage, stillbirth, or pregnancy termination in Southeast Michigan.
• Using LDC’s social media platforms to promote the reproductive justice framework and health equity for all.
• Inspiring public presence in LDC and normalizing pregnancy loss, respecting pronouns in everyday language, and hearing from those who have experienced reproductive loss.
• Guiding college students to engage with the online platform to address mental health and other comorbid concerns
• Supervising user engagement and providing individualized feedback and reviews of student progress
• Applying Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavior Therapy skills to correspondence with users
• Facilitating Racial Socialization practices for Black parents and children to cope with racial stress and promote bonding
• Conducting individual and dyadic sessions with parents and children to discuss encounters with racial discrimination
