Hi! My name is Jurni, I'm from Indian Land, South Carolina, and I am currently a freshman at Harvard College. I am the first person from my high school to attend Harvard, and one of the only members of my family to attend a four-year university. All that to say, you do not have to be from any particularly prestigious background and/or groomed since birth for greatness to attend Harvard, or any top-tier school for that matter—I certainly was not. What is important is that you put in effort, and make the most of the resources around you. As far as my stats go, I'll give a quick rundown of some things that I did not mention under the extracurricular section:

• GPA: 4.0 unweighted, 5.36 weighted (6.0 scale)
• Class rank: 6
• SAT score: 1500 (780 EVBRW, 720 Math)
• I took five AP classes: United States History (5), Biology (4), Psychology (5), English Literature and Composition (5), English Language and Composition (5)
• Awards: Student of the Month, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award, College Board National African American Scholar, AP Scholar with Distinction, as well as two awards at two Model UN conferences
• I worked for a year at Rita's Italian Ice & Custard, and I also worked for Kumon Tutoring for about half a year
